COURTHOUSE — Virginia Beach residents who are on city water may notice a change to its odor and taste due to routine maintenance that involves temporarily changing the disinfectant used in the water distribution system.

The disinfectant will shift from chloramines to free chlorine on Wednesday, March 8, and then it will switch back on Wednesday, March 29, according to the city.

The process “helps prevent bacteria from forming resistances to the usual chloramine disinfection process.”

No changes to water use routines are required, the city says, and citizens can learn more online via this link.
