COURTHOUSE — We don’t look a day over 59. Well, that’s actually because the modern city isn’t just yet.
But Virginia Beach is working toward a celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Jan. 1, 1963, merger of the Virginia Beach resort and Princess Anne County.
And 2022 will be a year of sharing memories as that anniversary approaches.
The city is producing documentary shorts that will be released this year under a series called Nostalgic VB, according to a statement released last month.
Additionally, the city is asking citizens to send in photos and videos showing the early days of the city.
“I think it’s a good time to celebrate this year and recognize all of the people who were a part of it,” City Councilmember Barbara Henley, who represents the Princess Anne District and is the author of a book about the history of Princess Anne County, said during an interview.
“It’s our opportunity to recognize what’s happened,” she added.
