State seeking input in Virginia Beach about flooding, resilience master plan for commonwealth

VIRGINIA BEACH — The state seeks public comment on hazards like flooding that affect coastal communities to develop a resilience strategy that also aims to preserve resources such as fisheries and recreational areas.

The project is meant to focus state efforts and help local governments develop flood-protection measures, according to a statement from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.

A community meeting is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 27, at Corporate Landing Middle School, 1597 Corporate Landing Parkway. Public comment is sought on state efforts to develop a Virginia Coastal Resilience Master Plan.

People can attend the meeting and speak in person or call in via (312) 626-6799. Participants can also use Zoom, but they must register in advance of the meeting online via https://bit.ly/3DrlHQm. The meeting identification number is 871 4292 9659.
