CREEDS — Sign skills at Creeds Church of Christ were on display the evening of the dinner for seniors late last month, though Mark Etheridge, assistant youth minister, faced a challenge.
He had a fine saying:
Don’t judge others because they sin differently than you do.
But only so much space on the sign.
William Sager, 15, helped make it fit. They adapted wording, aimed for the essence of the line, spacing letters for the version seen below.
Etheridge tries to change the signs weekly. He has two books about church signs at home. He looks online for sayings that connect.
He remembered one message:
Dear God. Help our country. Amen.
Just from reading it, he noted, “Do you know how many people prayed that week?”
