Leslie Jones and Daniela Cossu won spots as directors for the Virginia Dare Soil and Water Conservation District.
Jones had nearly 40,000 votes, and Cossu had nearly 30,000 as they each sought one of the two open seats on Tuesday.
The board helps manage the conservation of soil, water and other natural resources.
The conservation board also works with farmers to implement conservation measures, improve practices and maintaining the quality of local agricultural land.
Jones has said she is concerned about supporting small, family-operated farms and supports letting people keep free-range chicken in neighborhood backyards.
Cossu has said she hopes to bring her financial background to the conservation board and to help keep farmlands plentiful.
