VIRGINIA BEACH — The Independent News asked the three candidates for the special election in District 1 to answer a series of questions, and their answers appear on the page linked below. The candidates responded on a tight timeline, given the quick schedule of the process. I am grateful to candidates David Hutcheson, Teresa Gladney and John Napier for sending their responses.
The Independent News does not endorse candidates who are seeking office. We offer our voter guides as a way to let Virginia Beach residents hear from the candidates in their own words. Answers are not edited aside from obvious grammar issues and formatting. The candidate responses appear in ballot order.
Additionally, general voter information appears at a link below, including about how to check your local voting district.
Only District 1 voters can participate in this special election.
