LANDSTOWN — Jonathan Montes is a Norfolk State University student who is studying chemistry because he plans to go into the nanotechnology field.
Those are some serious studies, but he still makes time to help his mom.
Lanita Montes of Hidden Oaks owns 2 Cute to Burn Wax Tarts. She crafts and sells intricately-designed, fragrant wax melts.
On Saturday, Dec. 2, they were together at the Virginia Beach Farmers Market, selling the scented wax tarts as part of the craft show that coincided with the annual Breakfast with Santa event.
Jonathan Montes even wore festive reindeer antlers. That was her idea, he noted.
“It took me a long time to get them on,” Lanita Montes said.
Two days, actually.
“You look so handsome with them on,” she said.
She’s a proud mom, and he’s a grateful son.
“She’s done a lot for me,” he said.
His father, Jonathan Montes Sr., helps, too.
The family sometimes sits together at the dining room table, packaging the crafts Lanita Montes brought to the farmers market to sell with the help of her son.
He had to admit the antlers were festive.
