NORFOLK – The Virginian-Pilot, the leading newsroom in Hampton Roads, has an opportunity for tomorrow’s journalists to learn about newsgathering this summer.
The Pilot is accepting applications to its High School Journalism Workshop, which is scheduled to run from July 11-22. Topics include interviewing and research, organizing stories, self-editing, multimedia journalism and writing both news and feature stories, according to organizer Denise Watson.
“The workshop is open to current sophomores and juniors from public, private and home school settings in Hampton Roads.,” Watson wrote in an announcement about the worshop. “Promising freshman will be considered. The workshop is free.”
Applications must be postmarked by Friday, April 1. There is a required essay and a letter of recommendation.
