VIRGINIA BEACH — Anne Ferrell Tata defeated Kathy Owens in a firehouse primary on Saturday, June 5, to win the Republican nomination in the 82nd House District, which became open recently when state Del. Jason Miyares became the GOP’s nominee to be state attorney general.
Tata, a media professional, won the primary at Galilee Church, defeating Owens, a Navy veteran with a business background.
“I am so honored to win the Republican nomination for Delegate today and humbled by the show of support from voters throughout the 82nd,” Tata wrote in a social media post on June 5. “… Now the hard work begins to win this seat in November.”
Tata will face Democrat Scott Flax, an attorney, in the general election.
