From the Editor: Princess Anne Area Library closes for renovations, Henley constituent forum time change and distribution notes

BY JOHN-HENRY DOUCETTE

PUNGO — The recent temporary closure of Princess Anne Area Library for renovations means, among other things, that a lot of folks may wonder where to find copies of The Independent News.

The library is a very popular spot to find our paper, so I miss the library as much as you do. But we will hopefully reach those readers by leaving additional copies at the Princess Anne Recreation Center nearby. You can find our paper on a rack near the “express library” spot within the recreation center.

Services at the express library are limited to picking up “holds” — books patrons request to have held for them — or registering for a library card.

Read more about renovations at the library by clicking on this link. You can also find The Independent News at the Central, Joint-Use Library, Oceanfront and Pungo-Blackwater libraries.

Princess Anne District Forum Time Change

City Councilmember Barbara Henley is adjusting the time of her monthly town hall for the Princess Anne District to 5:15 p.m. Her next meeting is scheduled for today, Thursday, Jan. 24, at Building 19 at the Virginia Beach Municipal Center.

The time change is meant to accommodate earlier meetings in the conference room.

New Spots to Find The Indy

This month we added two Harris Teeter locations at Courthouse Marketplace and Sandbridge Common to our distribution system. The response to date has been great, and I wish I had done this a year ago.

Point being, you can now find The Independent News in on the publication racks in the foyers of those locations. The Independent News is on the right side of the rack at each location, right below our good friends at Veer Magazine.

And you should pick up Veer, too. It’s great. Just get The Independent News first, and then get Veer.

There needs to be an order to things.

For a partial list of where to find The Independent News in print, please click this link. And if you would like to carry our paper, particularly in the Red Mill or Strawbridge areas, please reach me via jhd@princessanneindy.com.

Thanks for reading.
