CREEDS — It is our pleasure to invite you to the Virginia Beach City Council Candidates Night this evening, Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Creeds Ruritan Community Complex about five miles south of the Pungo light.

This invitation is on behalf of the Virginia Beach Farm Bureau Board of Directors and the Creeds Ruritan Board of Directors, which host the forum to bring people seeking office to meet the citizens they would serve.

We share many of the concerns of other Virginia Beach citizens, but our rural communities face unique issues, such as pressures related to growth, flooding and preserving the farming industry.

Several years ago, we held a similar event, and the house was packed with people who wanted to hear from and ask questions of the people who want to lead our city.

We hope to have an even larger turnout this year at the Creeds Ruritan Community Complex. We are pleased that Jake Jacocks, the former chief of police, will serve as moderator.

Each candidate will have an opportunity to introduce themselves and be given equal time to present their platform and address issues that effect our communities. Following the program, light refreshments will be served, and candidates and voters will have a chance to meet.

We are excited to provide a program of this importance as a community service to our fellow citizens and to the candidates. Please make plans to be with us this evening, Thursday, Oct. 18.

Vaughan is the president of the Virginia Beach Farm Bureau Board of Directors.

The forum begins at 7 p.m. in the Dick Cockrell Youth Arena, Creeds Ruritan Community Complex, 1057 Princess Anne Road. The event is free and open to the public. Call (757) 426-6115 for information.
