COURTHOUSE – The Virginia Beach Historic Preservation Commission seeks applications for funding benefitting research that illuminates aspects of local history. Applications will be accepted until Thursday, March 15.
Four grants were given this past year, according to a statement released by the city on Wednesday, Feb. 14. The commission has a total of $10,000 in funding available to help for research and producing a final product.
Awards can range from $500 to $2,500.
Applicants can be undergraduate or graduate students, educators at Virginia schools and universities, adult Virginia residents who can demonstrate historical research ability, property owners of buildings listed on the Virginia Beach Historical Register or professionals from museums, libraries or historical societies.
Projects must include a sponsor who reviews and approves the resulting product.
