COURTHOUSE – A public meeting about flooding issues and how sea level rise will be felt in the Back Bay area is scheduled for 6 p.m., Monday, Jan. 22, at Kellam High School, part of a series of talks hosted by the city as it addresses rising waters in a coastal place.

The area to be discussed is described as south of the Green Line and Naval Air Station Oceana down to the border with North Carolina, including some communities near the North Landing River.

City Councilmember Barbara Henley, who represents the Princess Anne District, has urged public participation in the process. Sea level rise is expected to have a disproportionate impact on southern Virginia Beach.
