Virginia Line Media, LLC, parent company for conservative news and opinion outlets such as Bearing Drift, recently named Jim Hoeft as the publisher for all of the outlets produced under its umbrella.

Hoeft founded Bearing Drift in 2004 and served as its longtime editor. In 2011, he formed Virginia Line Media with Shaun Kenney, Norm Leahy, Scott Lee and Brian Schoeneman. The latter will assume Hoeft’s duties as Bearing Drift editor.

Virginia Line Media’s portfolio has grown to digital sources in a range of formats – Bearing Drift and the recently-relaunched The Jeffersoniad, news-focused analysis and longer-form essay and analysis, respectively, as well as The Score radio program and the Virginia Politics on Demand podcast, which Hoeft hosts.

“What it means is I am no longer involved in the day-to-day managerial aspects of any of the platforms except for Virginia Politics on Demand,” Hoeft said during a telephone interview. “Each of the individual platform editors are responsible for their content. … I just have a great group of people at Virginia Line Media who are doing a great job.”

Hoeft said the change will help him focus on growing the company and its mission.

“I’m responsible to make sure we stay true to our mission trying to provide over multifaceted platforms the best conservative content,” Hoeft said.
