PUNGO — The Independent News seldom gets to engage in the sort of H’wood biz “slanguage” pioneered by Variety.

So you may want to sit down before reading on. A glossary of terms appears at the bottom of the post.

Here goes.

Nab those ducats, and get ready to do some mitting, because Tinseltown is coming to Virginia Beach.

Light Age Films hosts the red carpet sneak preview of Eyes of the Roshi, an indie lensed this past year in Virginia Beach and Knotts Island, N.C.

It’s wrapped, and now it’s time for the hometown bow. The feature stars Eric Roberts, Adam Nguyen, Ethan Marten and Amanda Victoria Dunn, among others. Its crew includes a number of locals.

Marten, Light Age Films’ topper and a resident of the Oceanfront, told The Independent News earlier this year that locals were instrumental in completing the flick, which also has support from the city and state governments.

Settings include an Oceanfront motel, Cedar Hall Farms in Pungo, and even Monk’s Place, which also happens to be the unofficial Creeds bureau of The Independent News. Bonney Bright trucks are prominently featured, and there’s even a character named for Bright.

The flick mixes action and drama, and it’s anything but a yawner.

The red carpet screening is skedded to unspool at 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, 2200 Parks Ave. Advance tix are $25.

Head to the infopike and visit eyesoftheroshi.com to order or watch a trailer.

Should be socko, boffo or even whammo.

As always, thanks for reading — and for translating this scribbler.
