For a time, free tickets to Keillor literary festival talk at ODU Norfolk campus; poet Theodore Deppe scheduled for Beach Higher Education Center

NORFOLK –  Among the highlights of the 38th annual Old Dominion University Festival this coming month is an appearance by Garrison Keillor at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.

Festival organizers said this event, while free and open to the public, has limited seating in what is known as the Big Blue Room. Free tickets must be reserved in advance through the university theater’s box office.

The festival begins on Sunday, Oct. 4, and lasts through Thursday, Oct. 8.

Keillor’s event is at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 5, at the center. Registration for that event – and registration is only needed for Keillor – can be made can be made via www.oduartstix.com and scrolling down to the literary festival entry. 

Reservations end at 9 a.m. the day of the show, but organizers recommend registering as early as possible.

The majority of the other festival events will be held at Chandler Recital Hall on the Norfolk campus, but Beach residents have easy access to a reading and talk by poet Theodore Deppe at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Virginia Beach Higher Education Center, 1881 University Drive.
