Police: Kellam High teacher engaged in inappropriate relationship with student

COURTHOUSE A man who teaches at Floyd E. Kellam High School on West Neck Road is accused of engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a female student earlier this year, according to police.

Detectives from the police special victims unit arrested 28-year-old George Brown on Tuesday.

Brown, of the 400 block of Back Acres Court, is accused of one count of custodial indecent liberties.

An investigation began after a female student disclosed an incident, according to a statement released by city police on Thursday. A relationship between teacher and student lasted from January to April, police said.

Brown is listed as a technology education teacher at the school’s website.

WAVY-TV reported on Thursday that Brown was hired at Kellam in 2010 and taught at Ocean Lakes High School in the 2011-2012 school year. He is suspended without pay, WAVY reported.
